  • Probiotic Skincare

Skincare with live bacteria can help to re-balance the skin's microbiome by producing their unique metabolites (vitamins, amino acids, etc).

Signs of an imbalanced microbiome include breakouts, redness, irritation, dryness and premature aging.

  • Postbiotic Skincare

Whilst they're alive, probiotic bacteria produce important amino acids and vitamins, that help your skin stay healthy.

Postbiotic skincare contain all the metabolites created by the bacteria, plus the intact cells themselves. They can still help protect your skin, even when they're no longer alive.

  • Prebiotics

Prebiotics function as "food" for probiotics, and help them to thrive. Prebiotics are beneficial both for the skin and the gut microbiome.

Real probiotics are a science

There's a bunch of rumors, recommendations and undocumented experiences within probiotics. We try to elevate the discussion on the area and separate fake from fact, probiotic from none-probiotic

  • Not necessarily.

You may have eread about CFU (colony formin units), which is the indicator of how many active bacteria a product contains. A larger number is not necessarily better. The best dosis is the one which is tested and has proven health benefits.

  • Great questions.

'Probiotic' is often misinterpreted or misused in products that don’t fulfill the definition. Probiotics is still a fairly new area of research and consumer products (in some categories at least), which is why it is sometimes use as a marketing-gimmick. Unfortunately this dilutes the actual science behind real probiotics. There is however stricter regulation on the way, which will hopefully make it easier for you as a consumer to separate probiotics from marketing.

The decrease of microbial diversity directly correlates with a rise in a range of skin issues as well as metabolic and immune diseases like allergy, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D), and multiple sclerosis (MS).
